Principal Electrical Engineer - Cambridge
£70,000 | Permanent
Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home)
A well-established and growing building services consultancy is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join its Cambridge team.
This is a chance to take a senior role in a growing electrical design team, working on a varied mix of historic, healthcare and education projects while helping shape the direction of the business.
The Role
You'll own electrical design from concept through to completion, working closely with clients, architects, contractors and the wider MEP team. The role carries real autonomy, and you'll influence both technical delivery and the growth of the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Leading electrical design and delivery across multiple projects.
* Managing client relationships and attending key project meetings.
* Mentoring and supporting junior and intermediate engineers.
* Coordinating with mechanical, structural and architectural teams.
* Reviewing and signing off technical designs and calculations.
* Contributing to business development and bids.
About You
We're looking for:
* A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
* A strong background in building services consultancy.
* Experience leading projects and managing client relationships.
* Experience of historic, healthcare or education projects (ideal, not essential).
* The confidence to work independently and take responsibility for your designs.
* Chartered status, or a commitment to working towards it, is an advantage.
