Integrum Power Engineering - Part of the OCU Group, is an electrical engineering design & build contractor and ICP specialising in high voltage power transmission & distribution projects. Our industry sectors include utilities, renewable energy, rail and private networks. We offer engineering services across the full project life-cycle, from feasibility studies and design through to installation, commissioning and asset management.

We are recruiting for a Principal Design Engineer to join our expanding engineering department.

About the job

The Principal Design Engineer will have lead technical responsibility for production and integration of engineering deliverables associated with project(s) to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities:

The Principal Design Engineer will be expected to carry out the following:

* Act as technical authority within the business for their specialist field of engineering.

* Checker/review/approver responsibility for electrical engineering designs within their sphere technical competence.

* Act as design manager for internally and externally produced designs, including engineering management of interfaces between design teams and integration of designs.

* Production of designs as lead designer within own specialist field.

* Leading discharge of engineering duties under CDM, including managing integration of design disciplines, driving whole-life ‘safety by design’ and compiling technical content of project health & safety files.

* Leading the requirements management process including design verification in accordance with the principles of ISO 9001.

* Leading value engineering as an embedded element of the design process;

* Drafting technical specifications to support procurement of materials, equipment and subcontracted engineering services.

* Identification of OEM and wider supply chain technical solutions and innovations meeting projects requirement.

* Supporting the Commissioning Manager with design and construction validation and quality assurance requirements.

What you will need to be successful:

* Degree qualified in an electrical engineering discipline.

* Chartered Electrical Engineer.

* Significant experience in an infrastructure projects design consultancy or design & build environment.

* Technical expert in primary or secondary systems substation design or power systems network design.

* Experience in power transmission & distribution or renewable energy sectors, gained with either an OEM, utility framework contractor, ICP or EPC contractor or design consultancy.
