JOB ROLE: PRINCIPAL COMMERCIAL AND CONTRACTS SOLICITOR

LOCATION: SANDWELL

WORKING HOURS: 30 to 32 HOURS PER WEEK (Part Time)

HancoxRead Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Principal Commercial and Contractors Solicitor on behalf of our client. The role is based in Sandwell and initially on a 6 month contract, with the possibility of this being extended.

This role is ideal for an experienced practitioner who can demonstrate the ability to deal with a demanding caseload, possess excellent client care skills, and an eagerness to provide a high- quality service to our clients.

To be successful in this role, you must be a qualified lawyer with experience of undertaking specialist legal work within a Local Authority or the public sector on all legal matters in relation to contracts and procurement. The candidate will have experience relating to complex multi-million pound procurements and contract activities including but not limited to: public health, strategic regeneration and construction projects, subsidy control advice, light touch (schedule 3 of PCRs), IT and adults, children, and education matters.

JOB DETAILS

* Undertake specialist legal work and provide advice relating to complex multi-million pound procurements and contract activities including but not limited to: strategic regeneration and construction projects, subsidy control advice, light touch (schedule 3 of PCRs), IT and adults, children, and education matters.

* Provide advice and guidance on all aspects of project development ensuring legal compliance, managing risk

* To assist in the management of the Law and Governance Services including taking a leading role in Performance Management and Best Value including the establishment and maintenance of Service Standard Framework (SLA) agreements with client services both internal and external.

* Lead on finance and budget management for the commercial and contracts team including continued development of SSF framework agreements with client services to ensure appropriate financial provision for legal support for strategic projects.

* To identify legal risks associated with multi-million projects and propose strategies to mitigate them effectively and advise on compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

* As Principal Lawyer within the team you will have the responsibility for setting and delivering strategic goals for the team guided by the corporate objective of the council and, in conjunction with the Legal Services Manager – Commercial and Contracts, setting and monitoring the objectives of the team.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

* Qualified lawyer – Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (FCILEx) Five years’ post qualification experience.

* Experienced practitioner who can demonstrate the ability to deal with a demanding caseload, possess excellent client care skills, and an eagerness to provide a high- quality service to our clients.

* Existing management experience and supervise the work of junior members of staff
