Principal Civil / Structural Engineer

Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Civil / Structural Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Middlesbrough. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys delivering high-quality design work and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams. The role offers exposure to challenging projects within a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

Rate

Negotiable, Inside IR35 on an Umbrella basis

Location and Working Pattern

Middlesbrough – on-site with some flexibility.

37 hours per week

Responsibilities

Develop and prepare detailed civil and structural design documents, including layouts, reports and calculations.
Support Principal/Lead Engineers by reviewing and checking design deliverables.
Conduct site visits and surveys to gather information for design development.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to meet project milestones.
Produce technical documentation and reports, clearly communicating project progress.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes and client requirements.
Maintain knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies.
Manage multiple tasks effectively while delivering work on time and to specification.Must-have Requirements

Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (e.g., MEng or BEng).
Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional body, or working towards Chartership.
Strong understanding of civil and structural design principles.
Familiarity with STAAD Pro or similar design and analysis software.
Knowledge of materials, construction processes and relevant industry standards.
Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Nice-to-have Skills

Experience in continuous improvement or process optimisation.
Previous involvement in major infrastructure or nuclear projects.Benefits
