Are you a Principal Automation Engineer based in Manchester with experience of exSILentia software package?
Do you have expert experience as a Principal Automation Engineer with a background in Petrochemical Refinery?
If the answer is yes, we are keen on hearing from you relating to this long term contract position based in Cheadle, Manchester.
The opportunity
Due to projects ramping up, an exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Principal Automation Engineer to join a global engineering provider driven by a highly competent workforce.
The role
Duration – 12 months +
Weekly Hours – 40 hours per week (open to hybrid working but would require 3 per week in the office)
Contract (PAYE only)
Rate - £55.00 per hour (plus holidays on top)
Your duties and Responsibilities will be
Work activities will include both project and proposal work where both the technical approach and continuity must be aligned.
Work activities for both projects and proposals will be executed across all phases of projects including Conceptual Studies; Basic; FEED; Detailed Design; Procurement through to Commissioning.
Projects and proposals are for process plant and facilities across the Chemical; Oil and Gas; Power and Energy Transition/ New Energy sectors
Project work will include development of Automation Engineering deliverables as required on a project-by-project basis
Project work as Control Systems Engineer working directly for the Lead EngineerYou will have the following Qualifications and experience
Experience in Automation Engineering, Either as EPC contractor or Control Systems vendor environment.
Experience on Medium / Large capital projects from concept to start-up
Proven ability to work as part of a multi-skilled Control and Instrument Engineering team working directly for the Lead Engineer.
Competent of working within the C&I Discipline of a contracting organisation.
Experienced in the implementation of the full lifecycle of automation projects including specifications development, design & implementation documentation development (philosophies, URS, I/O Lists, Range/Alarm/Trip/Shutdown schedules, system architecture diagrams, C&E Matrix, Control Narratives, etc), software and hardware realisation, testing and commissioning.
In-depth knowledge of OEM products e.g. DCS, PLCs, SIS & SCADA systems required (e.g. Emerson Delta V, ABB 800xA, Siemens S7, Rockwell/Allen Bradley, etc).
Able to support incorporation of mechanical equipment vendor packages into main Control System (Strong System Integration abilities and background required).
Proven ability for equipment specification and selection and in ensuring compliance from the suppliers, preferably within an EPC contracting organisation.
Very good proactive communicator. The role involves liaison with Client Engineers & Project Management.
Degree qualified for the related discipline.
Have or working towards Chartered Engineer status as a Member of the Institute of Measurement and Control (IMC) or Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
Competent in project execution using selected design tools and techniques.
Competent for budget & Schedule control / monitoring and reporting.
Competent in design safety, constructability.
To be able to work to Company standards.
Innovative when appropriate. It's great if you also have the following
Fire & Gas systems.
