More about your role

In this role, a diverse skill set, experience, and knowledge are key to success. Qualifications such as IIA or CCAB are critical, along with excellent communication and report writing skills. Experience of working with data analytics would be an advantage, particularly good experience using Excel. Your ability to apply professional auditing skills independently in a complex business environment is vital, as are your interpersonal skills for effective communication and relationship-building. You must be able to develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, as well as having good business acumen; with an ability to understand our culture and customer service principles. With over four years of experience in internal audit or assurance, you should be skilled in sharing your findings with senior colleagues, perhaps even at Audit Committee level.   You will be bringing valuable thought leadership and expertise to the table.

This role will require a mix of remote home working and on-site presence, in any of our Places for People offices. Given that many team members are based in Preston and audits may require you to visit any of our sites across the UK, regular travel should be anticipated.

More About you

In your role, a diverse set of skills, experience, and knowledge are essential for success. You should hold qualifications such as IIA or CCAB with at least 4 years of working in an internal audit environment in a complex organisation.  You will have gained your experience in an internal audit role which has considered a variety of business risks – operational, financial and regulatory.  This may have come from working in an in-house team in a complex business or in a professional services firm.  Experience of working in the housing, real estate or financial services industries is particularly welcome.   Practiced use of data analytics would be desirable but not essential, however familiarity with basic data analysis concepts using Excel is a pre-requisite.  Your ability to apply professional auditing skills independently within a complex and dispersed national business environment is crucial – working to tight deadlines and budgets. Furthermore, your report writing and interpersonal skills enable effective communication and relationship-building at all levels, complemented by persuasive oral and written communication abilities. Your proficiency in developing and maintaining effective relationships with colleagues underscores your collaborative approach, while empathy and discretion guide you in handling sensitive issues. Expertise in auditing principles, along with a deep understanding of business culture and customer service further enhance your capabilities. Qualified, with over four years of experience in internal audit or assurance environments, you bring a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the table.
