A Strategic Finance Opportunity

We are delighted to be partnering with a large and progressive public sector organisation to recruit a Principal Accountant into its Corporate Finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional looking to take on a strategic role within a complex and dynamic environment. You will play a key role in supporting senior leadership, contributing to financial planning and decision-making, and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality finance service.

The Role

As Principal Accountant, you will:

Provide expert financial advice and support to senior managers and stakeholders.
Lead on budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and statutory reporting activities.
Deliver high-quality financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, legislation and financial regulations.
Support the development and implementation of financial strategies and policies.
Identify opportunities for service improvement, efficiency and innovation.
Develop effective relationships across the organisation and act as a trusted financial adviser.
Support, mentor and develop members of the finance team.

About You

We are seeking an experienced and proactive finance professional who can demonstrate:

A recognised professional accountancy qualification (CCAB or equivalent).
Significant experience within a complex finance environment.
Strong technical accounting and financial management skills.
Experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial audiences.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.Experience within the public sector or local government would be advantageous but is not essential.
