Primary Teacher

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a school in Rawtenstall to recruit a dynamic, motivated Primary Teacher to join the collaborative team.

The primary specialist provision offers an alternative provision for children who struggle to attend mainstream school. It caters for children aged 5-11 and the class sizes are considerable smaller than those in mainstream settings. The children who attend the provision have SEMH difficulties (Social Emotional Mental Health) and therefore, require a lot of encouragement and guidance regarding resilience and emotional regulation.

Purpose of the role
The purpose of the role is to provide high quality support, teaching and learning for children with SEMH needs. It will involve liaising and working with other professionals and parents/carers to ensure co-ordinated and consistent support for children and young people with SEMH need.

Main responsibilities

-          Defuse situations in a calmly manner

-          Contribute to and be up to date with, research and development in the field of SEMH

-          Champion the needs of children and young people with SEMH needs

-          Contribute to ongoing assessment of progress monitoring

-          Develop and manage an appropriate, creative, and accessible curriculum

-          Build and maintain trusting relationships with the children

Criteria

-          Qualified Teacher Status

-          Experience of successfully teaching pupils with SEMH needs

-          Ability to communicate effectively

-          A reflective practitioner

-          Motivation to work with children and young people

-          Committed to continuing personal and professional development

Key Information

-          Monday – Friday (Full-time) or they can cater for 4 days per week.

-          September start. Potentialy permanent position for the successful candidate.

-          Pay: Dependent on skills and experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
