About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and passionate Reception/Nursery Class Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in St Albans from September 2026. This part-time maternity cover role is for two days per week (Thursday and Friday) and will be delivered as part of a job-share arrangement.

The successful candidate will be committed to delivering engaging and creative learning opportunities within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, and supporting all children to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.

Plan and deliver engaging learning experiences across the Reception/Nursery EYFS curriculum.
Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.

Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing clear feedback and next steps.
Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and parents.
Ensure a smooth and effective partnership within the job-share arrangement.
Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are welcome to apply and will be fully supported.
Experience teaching within Reception and/or Nursery is desirable.
Strong understanding of the EYFS Framework.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
A positive, proactive and reflective approach to teaching.
