The Role

As a Control Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of advanced control solutions, with a particular focus on electric motor control and drive systems. You will be responsible for designing, modelling, simulating and validating control algorithms that deliver reliable, high-performance operation.

Working closely with electrical, mechanical and software engineers, you will support the complete development lifecycle, from system requirements through to testing and integration.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop advanced control systems using MATLAB/Simulink.
Develop, model and optimise motor control algorithms for electric drive applications.
Analyse system requirements and translate them into robust control system designs.
Model dynamic systems and evaluate control performance and stability.
Support hardware and software integration for real-time control applications.
Develop and execute system test plans, ensuring compliance with functional and safety requirements.
Troubleshoot control system issues and implement effective engineering solutions.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate control systems into larger products.
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering methods, modelling techniques and validation processes.Experience & Qualifications

Essential

Degree (BEng, MEng or PhD) in Control Systems, Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Practical experience designing control systems using MATLAB/Simulink.
Strong understanding of motor control theory, including electric machines, drive systems and closed-loop control.
Experience modelling, simulating and validating control algorithms.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience testing and troubleshooting control systems.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.Desirable

Field Oriented Control (FOC), vector control or sensorless motor control.
PMSM, BLDC, induction or synchronous motor drive systems.
Microprocessor or DSP implementation of real-time control algorithms.
Embedded control software development.
HMI or diagnostic interface development.
Serial communication protocols including CAN, SPI, I²C or UART.
Dynamic system modelling and coordination studies.
Control system verification, validation and performance testing.
