Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
A specialist post-16 provision in Rochdale is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support students aged 16-19 with complex learning needs. The role focuses on communication, social interaction, and life skills, using a person-centred approach as students prepare for greater independence.
What you'll do:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to post-16 learners
Support communication, social interaction, and daily living skills
Contribute to person-centred planning and EHCP targets
Help create a calm, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Work closely with staff, families, and external agencies
Post-16 Teaching Assistant - What We're Looking For:
Experience working with young people with SEND, ideally in a school, residential, or community setting. A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to managing behaviour
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A commitment to helping pupils achieve independence and life success.
A relevant qualification in support, care, or education is desirable but not essential
Post-16 Teaching Assistant - To Be Eligible You Must:
Hold the Right to Work in the UK
Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
Be able to provide two professional references (child-related preferred)
