Description:

We are currently recruiting for a PhD qualified Polymer / Materials Scientist to join a dynamic industry disrupter, involved in the development and delivery of high-performance composite polymer materials which reduce the use of plastics.

Currently seeking to expand their Research & Development team we are looking to speak to PhD qualified individuals looking to make a "real difference". This position would be the ideal starting point for a PhD Graduate looking for their first commercial role, and who is keen to apply their knowledge to the development of sustainable products.

Unfortunately, my client is unable to offer Sponsorship for this position, so it is essential Candidates have the requirement to work in the UK without restriction or Visa requirements

Remuneration Package:

£28,000 to £36,000 Basic Salary DOE

Key Responsibilities:

Research and development of microplastic free & water dispersible polymers
Research and development of dispersion techniques for graphene into polymers
Performance optimisation of current biodegradable polymers and adhesives
Design and validate new testing protocols for consumer packaging products
Documentation and interpretation of experiments
Project management, risk assessments and budgeting
Maintenance and qualification of laboratory equipment

Experience Requirements:

PhD qualified in either Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or Nanomaterials Science (ideally from one of the following institutions - Cambridge, University of Nottingham, Durham, Sheffield, Newcastle or Leeds)
Strong understanding and experience of polymer chemistry, nanomaterials or graphene infused materials development and testing
Previous experience within a Commercial R&D Laboratory or Materials Development environment would be highly desirable and a distinct advantage
The desire to work on the development of sustainable products and have a positive impact on the planet
Excellent communications skills with the ability to write clear, concise reports is essential
Full UK Driving Licence - ESSENTIAL (Due to clients location)
