Hays are delighted to be working in partnership with a Central London Borough on the recruitment of a temporary Senior/Principal Planning Policy Officer. This opportunity is open to candidates experienced at senior planning level and upwards.
Your new role
Prepare for, attend and present key arguments on behalf of the organisation as the local planning authority at the examination hearings
Provide the additional capacity to allow and support other officers in their preparation for the hearing sessions
Providing expert advice on planning policy matters in relation to the council's duties as the local planning authority, keeping up to date with key issues affecting policy development and implementation
Liaising with the GLA, neighbouring boroughs and others in relation to issues.
Preparing high quality presentations, briefings, committee reports and policy papers for the council and members.
Dealing effectively with correspondence and enquiries on issues related to work responsibilities from officers, members and the public in a timely and appropriate manner, providing good customer service at all times.
Covering, as required, the day-to-day tasks of the Head of Planning Policy in his/her absence, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Policy & Strategy.
What you'll need to succeed
An extensive background in an LPA planning policy team
Experience in taking Local Plans forward to the examination stage and attending hearings.
