Location - Chester
Position - Teaching Assistant (for students with PMLD and SLD)
Pay - £95 - £105 (depending on level of experience)
Start - As soon as possible
Academics are seeking an experienced and passionate PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a range of supportive SEND schools in Chester! If you have a strong background in supporting students with PMLD and SLD, experience working in a classroom, and you are based in Chester, we would love to hear from you!
As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you would be supporting students and their development through a sensory-led approach with a focus on personalised pre-speech communication. Through multi-sensory environments and intensive interaction, a PMLD Teaching Assistant will help students develop the skills needed to communicate with others.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day to ensure consistency, safety, and engagement.
Assist with specialized sensory programs, therapy plans, and curriculum activities tailored to individual needs.
Support non-verbal communication using assistive technology, symbols, signs, or sensory cues.
Assist with personal care, medical needs, and moving and handling where required (full training provided).
Create a warm, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages emotional well-being and personal development.
Work closely with teachers and external multi-agency professionals (speech and language therapists, occupational therapists).
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience: Previous experience working as a PMLD Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Assistant, or within a SEN/PMLD environment is highly desirable.
Mindset: Passionate about inclusive education and dedicated to enriching the lives of children with complex needs.
Compliance: Must hold an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered on the Update Service, or be fully willing to apply for one through our agency.
