We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plant Mechanic to join a busy local authority workshop in Derby on a temp-to-perm basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of plant and grounds maintenance equipment, helping to keep essential frontline services operating safely and efficiently.

The Role:
As a Plant Mechanic, you will support the Workshop Manager and Lead Mechanic in carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on a variety of plant and machinery used across Derby City Council's grounds maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on plant and grounds maintenance equipment.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
* Attend plant breakdowns and carry out emergency repairs both on-site and within the workshop.
* Undertake welding, fabrication and modification work, including manufacturing replacement parts where required.
* Complete service records, inspection reports and daily worksheets accurately.
* Assist in the specification and selection of new plant and machinery.
* Support the induction and training of new employees, apprentices and work experience placements.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of workshop systems and procedures.
About You:
* Proven experience as a Plant Mechanic, Plant Technician, Plant Fitter or Heavy Plant Mechanic.
* Experience maintaining and repairing grounds maintenance machinery, plant equipment or similar mechanical equipment.
* Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Welding and fabrication experience.
* A commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
