Job Description:
Reporting to the Materials, Planning & Logistics Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Production Planner to support the development of SAP Business One and lead a team of production planners to deliver on the business strategy. The successful candidate must possess excellent customer service skills and a willingness to go the extra mile to ensure the key objectives of the department are achieved.
Duties & Key Deliverables:
* Lead a team of 3 Planning Controllers while managing stakeholder relationships with other departments within the Supply Chain.
* Drive activities to meet KPI targets to reduce inventory and supply chain costs.
* Monitor and maintain safety stock in the key areas of the manufacturing process.
* Regularly update and manage forecasting to ensure the business meets the latest customer requirements.
* Deliver a robust and executable operational plan based on available material and capacity in close collaboration with the production team.
* Work alongside the production team to manage capacity levels in support of the master production schedules.
* Collaborate with the Purchasing Team to reduce slow-moving inventory while maintaining a steady flow of raw materials.
* Evaluate and improve current production planning processes to standardize across the business.
* Introduce cost-saving initiatives with a focus on lean manufacturing.
* Be aware of new product introductions and their implications for the planning function, BOMs/Routes, Work Centre, and Capacity.
* Full people management responsibility for 3 direct reports, including annual appraisals, performance management, and absence management.
Quality:
* Ensure system or product quality by adhering to Company procedures, work instructions, and operating procedures.
* It is every employee's duty to inform those responsible for production/quality if a product does not conform.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Previous experience in Master Scheduling, forecasting, Procurement, and Planning within the Automotive & Off-highway sectors (essential).
* Leadership experience (desirable).
* Ability to effectively interact and influence personnel of various levels and disciplines (desirable).
* Excellent IT skills, including Intermediate to Advanced Excel (essential).
* Proficient in using SAP (desirable).
* Proficient in using MRP Systems (essential).
