Job Summary:

The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing a physical education curriculum that promotes physical fitness, health, and overall well-being among students. The PE Teacher will design engaging, inclusive, and age-appropriate activities that foster students' physical development, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
Plan and organize a variety of physical activities that cater to different skill levels and promote physical fitness, motor skills, and social development.

Instruction:

Conduct physical education classes for students of various ages and abilities.
Provide clear instructions and demonstrations of physical activities, games, and exercises.
Monitor and assess students’ progress and adjust teaching methods to meet individual needs.

Classroom Management:

Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Enforce school policies and rules to ensure a respectful and productive class atmosphere.
Address disciplinary issues promptly and fairly.

Assessment and Reporting:

Assess students' performance and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, participation, and progress.
Prepare and submit reports on students’ performance as required.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and parents to support students’ overall development.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Health and Safety:

Ensure the physical safety of students during physical activities.
Teach and promote healthy habits and the importance of physical fitness.
Administer first aid when necessary and follow proper injury reporting procedures.

Extracurricular Activities:

Organize and supervise extracurricular sports programs, clubs, and events.
Coach school sports teams and coordinate participation in inter-school competitions.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
Teaching credential or certification in Physical Education.

Experience:

Previous teaching experience in physical education is preferred.
Experience coaching sports teams is an advantage.

Skills and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of physical education principles, techniques, and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire students.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
First aid and CPR certification is preferred.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands:

Regular physical activity including standing, walking, running, and participating in sports.
Ability to lift and carry sports equipment.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily performed in a school gymnasium, outdoor fields, and other athletic facilities.
Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor activities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
