About the Role

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated PE Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in Sunderland from September 2026 until April 2027.

This full-time opportunity is ideal for a passionate Physical Education specialist who enjoys creating engaging lessons and encouraging students of all abilities to develop their skills, confidence, and enthusiasm for sport. The successful candidate will join a committed department and play a key role in delivering high-quality PE provision across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The school prides itself on providing a positive and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to achieve their best both academically and personally. Applications are welcomed from experienced PE teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are looking for a rewarding role within a successful secondary setting.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging and well-structured PE lessons across KS3 and KS4
Teach a variety of practical sports and theoretical PE content
Plan, prepare, and assess lessons in line with curriculum expectations
Monitor student progress and provide support to help learners achieve their potential
Promote teamwork, resilience, and a positive attitude towards physical activity
Maintain high standards of behaviour and create a safe learning environment
Support the wider PE department and contribute to extracurricular activities where required

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching Physical Education within a UK secondary school
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
A passion for sport and inspiring young people
Ability to deliver engaging lessons to students of varying abilities
Two professional references covering the last two years
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
A reliable, flexible, and professional approach to teaching
