A job opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Professional to join an established firm of accountants based in Northampton, offering significant hybrid working, following completion of a successful probation period. Applicants must live within a sensible commute of Northampton.

The role can suit both full-time and part-time applicants and may involve some bookkeeping work for full-time applicants, but the firm are open to discussion on the composition of the job to suit your skills and preferences.

This role is ideal for an organised and detail-oriented payroll professional who enjoys managing a varied client portfolio and delivering an accurate, efficient payroll service.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payrolls for a range of clients, from director-only payrolls to larger payrolls with variable pay and working hours. You will also provide excellent client support, respond to payroll-related queries, and work closely with colleagues to ensure a high standard of service.

The role can include a blend of both payroll and bookkeeping, with the role being 80% payroll focussed, and the remaining 20% involving bookkeeping work.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of payroll clients, ensuring all payrolls are processed accurately and on time.
Process a variety of payroll frequencies, including weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls.
Calculate and process payroll in line with current legislation and company procedures.
Respond to client payroll queries in a professional and timely manner.
Provide payroll advice and support to colleagues within the team.
Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure confidentiality of client information.
Keep up to date with payroll legislation and best practice.Benefits:
