Payroll HR Officer
Location: Telford
£37,000 - £47,550 (depending on experience)
Permanent | Full Time | 39.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
A well-established manufacturing business in Telford is looking to recruit an experienced Payroll HR Officer to join its Human Resources team. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with HR administration experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and making a real impact across the employee lifecycle.
The Role:
Reporting to the HR Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process while supporting a broad range of HR administration activities. You'll ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, maintain HR records, support onboarding activities, and help ensure compliance with employment and payroll legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
Process end-to-end payroll, including starters, leavers and contractual changes
Manage overtime, bonuses, deductions and timesheet data
Administer statutory payments and pension auto-enrolment
Submit RTI information to HMRC and manage payroll deductions
Produce payroll reports, reconciliations, P60s and support P11D reporting
Maintain employee records and HR system data
Prepare contracts, offer letters and HR correspondence
Support recruitment, onboarding and right-to-work checks
Monitor absence and holiday records and produce management reports
Support employee relations administration and benefits processes
Ensure payroll and HR activities comply with current legislation and GDPR requirements
Essential:
Proven experience running end-to-end UK payroll
Strong knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and statutory payments
Experience submitting RTI returns to HMRC
Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using payroll systems
Desirable:
Experience within manufacturing, food production or another shift-based environment
Previous experience in a combined Payroll and HR role
CIPP qualification and/or CIPD Level 3 (or working towards)
Knowledge of employment law and HR processes
Experience producing reports and analysing data
