Payroll Assistant (6 months contract)

The Payroll Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Payroll Department in processing payroll accurately and on time. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. The Payroll Assistant will collaborate with various departments to ensure all payroll-related tasks are completed efficiently.

Payroll Assistant's Key Responsibilities:

* Assist in the preparation and processing of bi-weekly/monthly payroll for all employees.

* Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.

* Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.

* Prepare and distribute payroll reports as required.

* Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analysing information.

* Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.

* Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

* Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to the management team.

* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

* Assist with payroll audits and other compliance-related activities.

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Payroll Assistant's Qualifications:

* Proven experience as a Payroll Assistant, Payroll Clerk, or similar role.

* Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., SAGE 50 or similar).

* Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.

* Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

* Knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting payroll.

Payroll Assistant's Hours of work and Benefits

* Mon to Fri 8AM to 4PM

* £25k (DOE)

* 28 days holidays (pro rota)
