Description:
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator / Finance Administrator to join our team on a part-time basis. This is a predominantly payroll-focused position, with additional finance administration duties. The successful candidate will be confident running payroll accurately and independently within a busy practice environment.
Role details
* Hours: 20 hours per week
* Working pattern: Five days per week, four hours per day
* Salary: £26,000–£28,000 full-time equivalent, depending on experience (paid pro rata)
Key responsibilities
* Process client payrolls accurately and on time across weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay cycles
* Calculate statutory payments, deductions, pensions, holiday pay and other payroll adjustments
* Prepare and submit Real Time Information returns to HMRC
* Manage starters, leavers, payroll changes and year-end processes
* Respond professionally to payroll queries from clients and employees
* Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure deadlines are met
* Support routine finance administration, including bookkeeping, reconciliations and maintaining financial records
About you
* Previous experience running payroll within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau is essential
* Sound knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and workplace pensions
* Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail
* Organised, reliable and able to manage recurring deadlines
* Confident communicating with clients and handling confidential information
* Comfortable working independently while contributing to a supportive team
Desirable experience
* Experience using Xero for bookkeeping or finance administration
* Knowledge of BrightPay payroll software and familiarity with pension software used in a practice environment
