Role overview

The patrolling Security Officer is the public face of the Security Team and the Shopping Park and should always be smart in appearance and always act with professionalism. The Officer will be working as a team on a rotating 5 day a week rota, each shift will be for 9 hours. It is important the Security Officers work together with the wider team supporting tasks such as traffic management, litter picking and identifying maintenance issues.

The Officer should familiarise themselves with all the Occupier opening/closing times/store information/park layout/troubleshooting task/patrolling and safety and security of the park staff/service provider staff and customers.

A can-do attitude and desire to go above and beyond is essential in this highly influential role. Excellent customer service skills are essential in this position and the patrolling Security Officer should have good knowledge of site policy and procedures and implement good practice against Client procedures.

You’ll be responsible for:

• To readily interact with all customers/tenants on the estate, delivering first class customer focused service.

• Ensure communications and handovers are completed in the correct manner and following the correct rules.

• Carry out regular patrols of the estate as detailed in the site Assignment Instructions, being proactive always including external areas.

• Ensure all incidents are recorded in the correct manor and information stored in your personal notebook, accordance with PACE Act 1984.

• Be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous, and helpful always whilst carrying out duties to the highest standard.

• Security Officers must always maintain absolute confidentiality regarding company information and data used onsite.

• Body worn cameras to be worn whilst on patrol.

• To ensure exemplary standards in personal grooming, strictly adhering to the site uniform requirements and time keeping always ensuring you arrive with plenty of time before your shift starts. Full uniform must be always worn and when entering the Management Suite. Additional PPE must be worn, when required including Blunt Trauma Vests.

• Work with and support the Client, Security Manager and colleagues to ensure training on site protocols surrounding Emergency or Major Incidents are understood and implemented as necessary.

• Work together with your fellow housekeeping colleagues informing them of any spillages, full bins or other situations that they may not be aware of.

• Continuously look for opportunities to be of assistance to guests at the estate, proactively helping wherever opportunities arise.

• To ensure that the estate is a safe and non-threatening environment for all customers/tenants.

• Ensuring all incidents are managed in accordance with site policies and procedures.

• Liaising with estate control room proactively reacting to incidents and ensuring colleagues are always fully briefed and supported.

• Ensure any unsecure areas of the estate are reported to Control Room immediately and action taken to resolve. This includes any hotspots that are known.

• Record/log all non-conformances and emergencies with the appropriate control room operatives.

• Deal efficiently and effectively with all emergencies ensuring the Centre team are always kept fully informed.

• Intelligent understanding of human behavior, monitoring and surveillance of suspect individuals, logging, and reporting incidents in line with site/company polices.

• Maintain vigilance and highlight/manage unauthorised access by banned individuals.

• Aid third party contractors/visitors ensuring all estate procedures/policies are adhered to.

• To liaise closely with statutory authorities, dealing with incidents and the provision of information.

• Ensure radio procedures are always adhered to including the wearing of earpieces.

• Be prepared to use body warn cameras to retrieve footage of incidents.

• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business and as may be requested by your line manager, this may include litter picking, general cleaning.

• Ensure a timely response to all security issues and events. Ensure all patrols are logged accordingly as per company guidelines.

• Complete all training requirements as requested by line manager.

• Adhere to the correct lockup procedures as instructed by your line manager and complete the necessary reports in the control room.

• Liaise closely with the other teams on site delivering one service and highlight opportunities in working as one team.

• N.B – Core tasks are as above, although this list is not exhaustive.

About You

• SIA Door Supervisor License/Security Officer License essential

• SIA CCTV License desirable

• First Aid trained desirable.

• Have a one team approach.

• Able to take ownership of all situations to ensure tasks are completed.

• Flexible approach to change

• Smart appearance always in line with company standards

• Good customer relations.

• Retail Security an advantage.

• Excellent levels of customer service with good report writing and verbal communication skills.

• Good organisational skills with the ability to balance completing priorities and workloads.

• Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility.

• Ability to remain calm under pressure and in emergencies.

• Adaptable and flexible in approach to work required.

• Willingness and ability to work as a member of a team.

• Excellent observational skills.

• A good knowledge of the local area.
