About Us

Fosterplus was founded in 1996 and has decades of continuous experience as an independent fostering agency. Continuity is important to us, and we look to create it in everything we do - most critically, for the children and young people we support.

Many children and young people who come into our care have experienced a disrupted childhood, and our aim is to break this cycle and provide greater stability. We do this by carefully matching the right Foster Parents with the right children and making sure we are always on hand with support, guidance and help.

Our expertise helps ensure more successful placements, and that is exactly the sort of continuity we want. This commitment is set out in our mission:

'Provide positive and stable family environments for the children and young people placed with our carers and ensure that, with the support of our carers, they can thrive emotionally and academically.'

Requirements

Fosterplus Doncaster is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Supervising Social Worker who is enthusiastic, committed and understands the important role and skills of Foster Parents.

Our social workers take a collaborative approach with Foster Parents to promote meaningful and relevant supervision of placements. Experience of working with Foster Parents as professional colleagues and within a multi-disciplinary environment is essential.

This role also includes quality assurance responsibilities to maintain high standards, alongside training and support for prospective and existing Foster Parents. You will need to be an excellent report writer who can work effectively to strict deadlines.

Hold a recognised professional qualification in social work and current Social Work England registration

Have previous experience in children and families social work

Have a comprehensive working knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and procedures relating to children's services and fostering

Have good IT skills

Be flexible in relation to working patterns and travel

Hold a full driving licence, be a confident driver and have access to a vehicle

Responsibilities

Provide direct support to Foster Parents within a manageable caseload that enables a high level of supervision

Provide regular supervision to allocated Foster Parents, supporting and monitoring their practice and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards

Work in partnership with children, young people, Foster Parents, other professionals, local authorities and stakeholders to support meaningful participation in assessment, planning, review and decision-making relating to safeguarding and child protection

For an informal discussion, please contact Jenny Huggins on (phone number removed).

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Fosterplus.

Fosterplus is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates.

Fosterplus is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.
