Part-Time Payroll Administrator

Location:
Head Office, Hull City Centre

Salary:
£10,816 - £27,040 per annum, pro rata

Working Hours:

Monday and Tuesday - 7:30am to 4:30pm

Position Reports to:
Payroll Supervisor / Department Manager / Directors

Key Relationships:
Payroll Supervisor, PRS Staff, Temporary Agency Staff

Role Purpose

This role plays a vital function in ensuring the smooth operation of our business by supporting the timely and accurate processing of the weekly payroll for our agency temporary workers.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the payroll function, ensuring information is processed accurately and within strict deadlines. While extensive previous payroll or accounts experience is not essential, strong Excel skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under time pressure are paramount.

Main Duties

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Assist with the processing of the weekly payroll for agency temporary workers.
Accurately input, check and maintain payroll information and records.
Review timesheets and payroll data, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Maintain and update Excel spreadsheets and payroll records.
Assist with responding to payroll queries from temporary workers and internal staff.
Ensure all payroll information is processed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Handle confidential payroll and employee information appropriately and in line with GDPR requirements.
Work closely with the Payroll Supervisor and wider team to ensure the smooth running of the payroll process.
Provide general administrative support to the payroll function as required.
Assist with checking and reconciling payroll information.
Ensure any issues or discrepancies are raised promptly and followed through to resolution.

Knowledge & Attention to Detail

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when handling data and payroll information.
Ability to work methodically and accurately when dealing with large volumes of information.
Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and GDPR when handling sensitive employee information.
Previous payroll or accounts experience is desirable but not essential.

Proficiency with Technology

Strong Excel skills are essential.
Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word.
Ability to learn and use internal payroll and administrative systems.

Problem-Solving & Decision-Making

Ability to identify discrepancies or issues within payroll information.
Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to ask questions when clarification is required.
Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict payroll deadlines.
Organised approach to managing time-sensitive tasks.

The working days and hours for this position are fixed and there is no flexibility to change these days or hours.

The role involves working to time-sensitive weekly payroll deadlines. The ability to manage workload effectively and maintain accuracy under pressure will therefore be an important part of the role and will be discussed during the interview process.
