Description:

P6 Planning Engineer

We are seeking a P6 Planning Engineer to join an established project delivery team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong Primavera P6 skills to take ownership of project schedules and work closely with operational teams to support the successful delivery of major projects.

Reporting to the Planning Manager, you will play an important role in developing, maintaining and reviewing project programmes, ensuring progress is accurately recorded and any potential delays or changes are identified at an early stage.

The position offers a varied working environment, with approximately 60–70% of your time based in the office and the remainder spent visiting project sites and meeting with clients, subcontractors and wider delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop, maintain and oversee project schedules throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial award through to completion.

* Work closely with project management and delivery teams to ensure programmes accurately reflect progress, resources and cost profiles.

* Regularly review programme performance, identifying potential risks, delays and opportunities to improve delivery.

* Arrange and participate in progress reviews and planning meetings with internal teams, clients and subcontractors.

* Use Earned Value Management techniques, particularly Schedule Performance Index (SPI), to measure performance against agreed timelines.

* Prepare programme updates and progress reports, tracking key milestones, completion dates and critical path activities.

* Maintain collaborative planning tools and short-term lookahead schedules to monitor upcoming works and changes.

* Assess the impact of project changes and variations, incorporating these into revised programmes and highlighting any effect on delivery dates.

* Support planning workshops and work with project teams to identify practical solutions to programme delays and potential slippage.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:

* Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 (essential).

* Experience developing, updating and monitoring project programmes.

* An understanding of critical path analysis, project milestones and programme reporting.

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.

* Good Microsoft Office skills.

* Strong communication and organisational abilities.

* A proactive approach, with the confidence to engage with multiple stakeholders and work collaboratively across project teams.

Salary & Benefits

In addition to a competitive salary, the company offers an attractive benefits package, including:

* Generous annual leave allowance, increasing with length of service, with the option to purchase additional days.

* Comprehensive company pension scheme.

* Private medical cover options.

* Employee Assistance Programme, offering 24/7 support.

* Competitive family leave arrangements.

* Access to corporate discounts.

* Cycle to Work scheme.

* Employee share purchase scheme.

* Annual subscription to a recognised professional association relevant to your role
