P6 Planner – Defence Infrastructure

Location: 1 day a week in London, rest remote (Travel can be covered) | Sector: Defence Estate & Infrastructure

Our client, a leading engineering and consultancy firm, is seeking an experienced P6 Planner to join their team. Working on our behalf of major programmes supporting the UK defence estate, this role focuses on the delivery of critical built infrastructure.

We are partnering with this client to find a planner who can develop, maintain and monitor project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project for technically demanding infrastructure work. Daily activities include creating detailed schedules, coordinating construction inputs, producing progress reports and analysing delays and compensation events.

Purpose and scope of the role

You will support the planning and delivery of infrastructure projects across the UK defence estate, contributing to programmes that maintain and modernise the facilities the armed forces rely on. This is a hands-on planning role within a collaborative project controls function.

Your impact in this position

You will immediately improve programme accuracy and visibility, enabling better decision-making on live projects. Over the medium term, you will lead schedule development for complex workstreams, support change control and cost forecasting, and influence mitigation strategies.

Core capabilities

* Primavera P6 expertise — Proficient in creating, updating and maintaining detailed schedules and resource/load profiles using Primavera P6.

* Project controls & reporting — Competent in earned value, cost forecasting, change control and presenting concise progress analysis for stakeholders.

* Construction sequencing & logic — Clear understanding of design, construction and commissioning sequences to define critical paths and assess the impact of delays.

* Stakeholder communication — Able to translate schedule data into actionable advice for project teams and clients and lead programme reviews.

* Data integrity & problem solving — Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and capability to identify trends, risks and mitigation measures.

Skills, qualifications and experience

Expected: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and a valid UK driving licence.

Desirable: PMI-SP, PSP or equivalent project/planning certification, and prior experience in defence, infrastructure, or another regulated/secure-environment sector.

Please note: Due to the nature of the work, candidates may be required to undergo security clearance (e.g. SC or DV). Eligibility requires UK residency and sole British nationality
