Outreach Tutor – Southend-on-Sea
£25.00–£35.00 per hour PAYE + Paid Planning & Preparation Time
Equivalent to approximately £30.00–£42.00 per hour
Location: Southend-on-Sea and surrounding areas
Hours: Flexible Part-Time & Full-Time Opportunities
New Chapter Tuition is recruiting experienced Tutors and Qualified Teachers to provide personalised 1:1 tuition and educational support for young people aged 11–25 across Southend-on-Sea.
This role is ideal for professionals with experience supporting learners with SEMH needs, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, school avoidance, SEND, or Alternative Provision backgrounds.
The Role
• Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition and intervention sessions
• Build positive relationships that support engagement and confidence
• Deliver English and Maths support where appropriate
• Use trauma-informed and relationship-led approaches
• Support emotional regulation, resilience, and re-engagement with education
• Complete session reports and progress updates
• Work collaboratively with families, schools, and Local Authorities
Learners May Present With
• SEMH needs
• ADHD
• Anxiety and EBSA
• Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
• Autism (ASC)
• Dyslexia
What We're Looking For
✔ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or proven tutoring experience
✔ Experience supporting learners with SEMH, ADHD, trauma, EBSA, SEND, or additional needs
✔ Strong communication and relationship-building skills
✔ A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
✔ Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred) or willingness to obtain one
✔ Right to work in the UK
