This is a key leadership role within the business, responsible for managing and supporting transport operations across all departments.

The successful candidate will ensure:

Safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of goods
Strong operational performance against KPIs
Cost-effective use of fleet and driver resources
High standards of health & safetyYou will work cross-functionally, building strong relationships across the organisation to support overall business success.

???? Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

Oversee day-to-day transport operations across the business
Plan for short- and long-term operational requirements
Ensure operational continuity across people and assets
Deliver efficient transport planning aligned to budget and KPIsPerformance & Improvement

Monitor performance through data analysis and KPI reporting
Identify and implement continuous improvements
Improve fuel efficiency and overall operational cost performance
Prepare and present KPI reports to senior managementResource & Fleet Management

Ensure effective utilisation of drivers and vehicles
Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure fleet is fully serviced and compliant
Manage both planned and reactive maintenance requirementsCompliance & Safety

Ensure full compliance with:
Tachograph regulations
Working Time Directive (WTD)
UK & EU transport legislation
Work closely with Health & Safety teams to uphold best practice
Promote a culture of safe and compliant workingCommercial & Customer Focus

Ensure customer requirements are delivered in a timely, controlled and measurable manner
Identify and develop opportunities for new business
Support the delivery of high service standards and customer satisfactionLeadership & People Management

Lead, motivate and develop operational teams
Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs
Support recruitment, training and retention of drivers
Build a strong team culture focused on continuous improvement and delivery✅ Key Experience & Qualifications

Proven experience in transport / logistics operations management
Strong background in:
Container haulage and/or general haulage
Experience managing operational performance and financial outcomes
Strong working knowledge of:
Driver Hours regulations
Working Time Directive (WTD)
UK transport legislation
Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams
Transport Manager CPC (desirable, not essential)
Strong IT literacy across transport systems???? Skills & Competencies

Strong organisational and planning capability
High level of problem-solving and continuous improvement focus
Strong financial and budget management skills
Ability to think logically and make decisions under pressure
Effective leadership and team management capability
Strong communication skills across all levels
