Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation, are a leading manufacturer of water management solutions, surface water drainage products, and cable protection systems, these sit alongside our Green Urbanisation offering, providing a full solution for water management. With a large proportion of our products made from recycled materials sustainability sits at the heart of all we do.

Role: Reporting directly to the Operations Director the Operations Manager – Customer Supply Chain will take full responsibility for the yard, material movement, stock control and customer delivery at Horncastle.

The main responsibility will be to provide strong leadership to ensure a safe working environment, allowing a focus on customer service and supply chain efficiency via root cause analysis through the empowerment and development of our people.

The aim is to achieve optimisation of our people, equipment and processes throughout the customer supply chain, in order to maximise sustainable profits for the business whilst building a well-trained, flexible and motivated team.

To develop and apply a supply chain strategy aligned to the Groups strategy providing focus and prioritisation for all activities within the team.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00

Responsibilities:

* Establish the strategy, develop the roadmap, and lead the implementation to realise an integrated and optimised physical logistics and transport process across Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation delivering exceptional customer service.

* Budget responsibility for Variable Distribution & Warehousing costs with the remit of delivering year on year efficiency savings.

* Ensure the supply chain team has a customer led, positive, proactive, supportive and welcoming culture.

* Understands and meets the company’s Operating Licence obligations ensuring that appropriate controls and procedures are rigorously enforced.

* Support the embedding of the Trade Mark Behaviours by role modelling and calling in appropriate behaviours.

* Ensure that you and your team are aware of and work within the company’s latest policies and procedures.

* To ensure that all operational teams work safely and proactively work towards reducing risk within the working environment.

* Lead a no harm culture within the operations team.

* Ensure all proactive H&S actions are completed by the team each month.

* Ensure all near misses and accidents are investigated thoroughly to root cause and suitable remedial actions are put in place to remove/reduce the risk.

* Ensure all risk assessments are in place and up to date for tasks within the operational department & Ensure that all conditions of the Operating licence are adhered to at all times

* To lead a continuous improvement approach to removing root causes of waste and therefore continually striving to improve efficiencies across all areas.

* Ensure that the operational team are fully trained in the appropriate CI tools and techniques and are empowered to drive change.

* Identify and implement best in class pick, pack and loading processes leveraging automation and IS infrastructure to maximise efficiency.

* Further develop the Operational strategy and strategic actions in line with the Genuit Sustainable Solutions for Growth strategy.

* Ensure regular reviews with direct reports to identify and monitor annual strategic action plans for everyone.

* Identify areas where capital investment will enable a step change improvement or reduction in cost and manage those projects to successful implementation.

Requirements:

* Qualified in a relevant discipline with CPC would be desirable but not essential

* Previous operations managerial experience is essential for this role

* Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment & Driving continuous improvement initiatives

* Knowledge of supply chain best practice processes & Passionate about sustainability and implanting environmentally responsible practices

* Strong leadership skills with a focus on people development and team building

* Must have a valid UK Driving Licence

* Credibility and gravitas to manage and build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and suppliers
