Description:

Contek Recruitment are currently working with a a leading manufacturer, specializing in the production, servicing, and installation of special purpose machinery, including deburring and surface finishing equipment, along with machinery such as shot blasters, water treatment, and other automated machinery.
Our client service a wide range of industries, including Aerospace, Medical, Automotive, Hospitality, and General Engineering. Our client are headquartered in Tile Hill, Coventry in the West Midlands.
Position Overview:
Due to significant company growth, our client are seeking a skilled and motivated Operations Manager to oversee and manage their growing operations team.
The Operations Manager will manage and lead the subcontract, quality and EHS of the business. You will be ultimately responsible for the smooth running of the process and the quality of output. You will be working closely with the Managing Director on the strategic side of the business which will include a variety of different tasks. There will be frequent occasions whereby you may need to travel around the world to visit customers or the companies own manufacturing sites.
Main Objectives/Responsibilities:
* Responsible for all subcontract activities in the business which include new part introduction, making technical instructions and data cards etc.
* Site quality lead to manage company quality systems which include audits, calibration, maintenance and corrective actions.
* HR activities such as inductions, appraisals, team building activities etc.
* Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
* Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
* Improves manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
* Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
* Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
* Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
* Estimate costs and prepare budgets.
* Supervise and evaluate performance of production personnel (quality inspectors, workers etc.)
* Approve maintenance work, purchasing of equipment, etc.
* Enforce health and safety precautions and site lead for EHS working closely with our appointed external agency.
* Interacting with customers on production, technical support, troubleshooting and sales projects.
* Coordinates with company branch offices for manufacturing projects – reviewing drawings, layouts, project specification sheets etc.
* Right First Time (RFT) to be a minimum of 95% in the sub – contracting business. A measure to verify this would be in a monthly report that you would submit to the management.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday (08:00 AM until 16:30 PM)
Holidays:
Total of 29 days holiday. You will be entitled to 20 working days (floating) annual holiday per year plus New Year’s Day (1st January), Easter Monday, May Day, August Bank Holiday and Christmas Shutdown (1 week). The holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December. In the years of joining and leaving, holiday entitlement is calculated proportionately.
