About Our School

Located in Dunstable, approximately 2 miles from the M1, our school offers a safe and supportive environment for pupils aged 5-18.

Role Responsibilities

Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils

Maintain an awareness of the EHCPs for pupils in your care and support the meeting and evaluation of targets

Support the classroom teacher during lessons

Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met

Supervise pupils during times outside lessons, including extra-curricular activities and school trips

Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation

Set work where appropriate and undertake marking

Build positive relationships with your pupils and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

Have a strong basic education, ideally to A Level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills

Be flexible and demonstrate a growth mindset

Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant

Previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting

Be experienced and confident in taking additional responsibility within an area of the school, such as food hygiene, Forest School, lunchtimes or school yoga

Experience of behaviour-management strategies and techniques
