Offload Team Leader / Forklift Driver

We are currently recruiting for an Offload Team Leader / Forklift Driver to join a busy recycling operation based in Purfleet.
This is a hands-on role that combines forklift driving, team leadership and general recycling duties. You will be responsible for overseeing the offload operation, supporting drivers and managing a team of 2 employees, while ensuring all Health & Safety procedures are followed.
Please note: this is not a forklift-only position. The role involves working directly with waste, including food waste, and can be dirty, smelly and physically demanding.
Candidates must be comfortable working in this type of environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and coordinate the daily offload operation
* Manage and support a team of 2 employees
* Operate a forklift safely and efficiently
* Support other forklift drivers and members of the team
* Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times
* Assist with the handling and movement of waste and recyclable materials
* Handle food waste and other waste materials
* Carry out manual handling and heavy lifting
* Maintain a safe and tidy working environment
* Follow site procedures and operational instructions
* Assist with other duties as required across the recycling operation
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
* Previous forklift driving experience
* A valid forklift licence/certificate
* Previous experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor or similar role
* Good awareness of Health & Safety requirements
* The ability to lead and support a small team
* A strong work ethic and reliable attitude
* The ability to work in a physically demanding environment
Location: Purfleet
Salary: £16.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday
Shifts: 07-15:45
Job Type: Temp to Perm
This is a hands-on recycling role and candidates must be prepared for the physical and environmental demands of the position.
The role involves waste handling, food waste, strong smells, dirty working conditions, manual handling and heavy lifting.
