Description:
Are you a caring, patient, and adaptable Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in Early Years education? We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) within a Nursery/Reception classroom in Barry.
The role will involve providing individualised support while also assisting with classroom activities, small-group work, and targeted interventions under the guidance of the class teacher. The role will also involve personal care, including nappy changing, where required.
Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with ALN, helping them access learning and participate in classroom activities.
Support the pupil's communication, social, emotional, and developmental needs.
Assist with personal care, including nappy changing and toileting, where required.
Support the class teacher with general classroom activities, small-group work, and targeted interventions.
Encourage independence, positive behaviour, and engagement in learning through play-based activities.
Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school team to support pupils' individual needs.
Requirements
Experience supporting children with ALN or additional support needs is desirable.
Experience working in a Nursery, Reception, or other Early Years setting would be beneficial.
Comfortable and confident supporting personal care routines, including nappy changing.
A patient, caring, and flexible approach.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from the class teacher.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
