Major Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Mobile Plant Operator to join our client's team in Northampton.

Position Details

Location: Liliput Road, Northants, NN4

Working Pattern: 5 days per week (Wednesday & Thursday are fixed rest days)

Schedule Requirement: Saturday and Sunday shifts are mandatory

Pay Rates

Standard Rate: £13.85 per hour (Friday, Monday, Tuesday)

Weekend Rate: £20.75 per hour (Saturday, Sunday)

Overtime Rate: £20.75 per hour (for any shifts worked on Wednesday or Thursday)

Requirements

Essential: Valid NPORS Telehandler Ticket

Desirable: NPORS Wheeled Loading Shovel and/or NPORS 360 Excavator tickets (beneficial, but not essential)

Job Description

As a Mobile Plant Operator at the Brackmills Waste Transfer Station, you will play a crucial role in managing day-to-day site operations, processing incoming waste materials, and maintaining site safety standards.

Key Day-to-Day Duties

Safely operate heavy plant machinery (Telehandlers, and where certified, Loading Shovels and 360 Excavators) to load, move, and stack waste materials across the site.

Control tipping hall operations, perform vehicle marshalling, and direct traffic/deliveries safely within the transfer station.

Load bulk collection vehicles, static plant, and transfer containers efficiently.

Ensure a continuous, reliable supply of waste is available for processing and bulking.

Conduct incoming waste inspections to identify, log, and report non-conforming or hazardous materials.

Perform routine daily pre-start checks and first-line maintenance on assigned plant equipment.

Maintain clean and safe working conditions across the tipping hall, fuel reception areas, and internal delivery routes.

Report all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) hazards, incidents, or equipment defects immediately to line supervisors.
