Summary

This role holds a significant position within our client’s business, offering the successful candidate daily interaction and exposure to senior management, including the CEO. It provides an exceptional opportunity to develop a strong industry specific profile by working closely with globally renowned blue-chip companies.

Principal Role Objective

The principal (but not exclusive) role objectives are to:

1. Ensure the efficient and successful development of assigned NPI programmes from contract award phase, through to hand-off to Operations in accordance with the structured gated process.

2. Plan, coordinate, implement and finalise projects according to specifications and deadlines, while achieving the project performance targets for Quality, Cost & Delivery

3. Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the companies NPI processes.

4. Act as an ambassador to customers, always upholding and projecting the utmost level of professionalism.

The role will require excellent inter-personal skills, including liaison between various business functions (e.g., Commercial, Procurement, Finance, Technical, Scheduling, Operations, Quality Assurance) as well as senior external stakeholders from major blue-chip customers.

NPI Engineer

The successful candidate must:

* Have a background in engineering/manufacturing; ideally in batch-based manufacturing.

* Experience (minimum 3 years) must be in a regulated manufacturing environment.

* Be able to understand and communicate technical data and specifications. In particular, interpretation of drawings (ASME and ISO) & GD &T, technical specifications, and product control documentation

* Have a sound understanding of project management processes and principles. It would be highly desirable to hold a PRINCE2 or equivalent qualification.

* Have experience using statistical techniques (SPCs, Gage R&R)

* Ideally, have experience working with projects in APQP/PPAP environment (this is preferred, but not essential)

* Be IT literate and comfortable with data. Must have at least an intermediate level knowledge of Excel and be comfortable interacting with an ERP system for basic input, analysis and querying routines (checking job status etc). A key requirement will be the need to prepare and maintain Excel-based project trackers.

* Have experience using 3D CAD software – CATIA is preferred, but others are acceptable.

NPI Engineer

The main (but not exclusive) role requirements are as follows:

* Act as primary customer focal for all matters relating to the NPI programme; communicate regularly with the customer with the desired frequency.

* Review customer engineering drawings, models, material and process specifications, and interface with customer engineering and SQM teams.

* Preparation and completion of all internal project management documentation (trackers etc) and reports

* Prepare technical bid packs for sub-contract tooling, and manage the interface (logistics, technical queries, project management) with the selected tooling manufacturer.

* Prepare technical bid packs for sub-contract services, and work with Procurement to ensure proper flow down of commercial terms to subcontractors.

* Produce PFMEAs and Control Plans. Provide technical support to production departments when necessary.

* Prepare Foundry Control Documents & produce Standard Work Instructions

* Liaise with Operations to ensure effective planning of capacity and management of manufacture and testing of development parts.

* Oversee product development trials ensuring accurate monitoring, recording of all manufacturing and test data, including investigating non-conformances.

* Work closely with the QA team to produce FAIR packs and all customer-required pre-production verification and qualification documentation to ensure clearance for production.

* Attend and contribute actively to daily production meetings, briefing on risks and issues (e.g. material shortages, tooling etc) and proposing potential mitigations.
