We are currently recruiting for an experienced and confident Non-Teaching Head of Year 10 to join a secondary school in Birmingham on a temporary basis, starting as soon as possible.

This is a key pastoral role within the school and would suit someone with strong experience supporting secondary-aged pupils, managing behaviour and attendance, and working closely with students, families and school staff.

The Role

As Head of Year 10, you will take responsibility for the pastoral support and day-to-day management of the year group. Your duties will include:

* Providing strong pastoral leadership and support for Year 10 students

* Monitoring and supporting attendance, punctuality, behaviour and wellbeing

* Managing behavioural and pastoral issues effectively and consistently

* Supporting students who may be experiencing barriers to learning

* Working closely with teaching staff, senior leaders and the wider pastoral team

* Communicating with parents and carers regarding student progress and concerns

* Supporting safeguarding procedures and escalating concerns appropriately

* Helping to maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and achievement

* Supporting students as they progress through an important stage of their GCSE studies

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

* Has previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour, safeguarding or Head of Year role within a secondary school

* Is confident managing challenging behaviour and sensitive pastoral situations

* Can build positive and professional relationships with students

* Has excellent communication and organisational skills

* Can work effectively with parents, teachers and senior leadership

* Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and student welfare

* Is calm, resilient and able to make sound decisions in a busy school environment

* Is available to start as soon as possible

Previous experience working specifically with Key Stage 4 or Year 10 students would be particularly advantageous.

* £200–£300 per day, depending on experience

* Full-time hours, 8:00am–4:00pm, Monday to Friday
