Night Transport Manager
A well-established palletised distribution specialist is looking for an experienced Night Transport Manager to join its friendly, close-knit team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for managing the night operation, supervising drivers, and ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
The majority of the role involves supervising the night shift on site, supporting drivers throughout their shift, resolving operational issues, and ensuring service levels are maintained. This is a role for someone who enjoys leading from the front and isn't afraid to get involved when required.
Working Hours
18:00 - 04:00
5 nights per week
Includes one weekend day
Essential Requirements
Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
Previous experience in transport operations or transport management
Experience managing and supervising drivers
Strong knowledge of palletised distribution and transport operations
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and make effective operational decisions
A hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example
Key Responsibilities
Manage and supervise the night transport operation.
Lead and support a team of drivers throughout their shifts.
Ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
Monitor driver performance and compliance with company procedures.
Resolve operational issues and respond to changing priorities.
Liaise with warehouse and transport teams to maintain smooth operations.
Ensure vehicle utilisation and route planning are optimised.
Maintain high standards of health and safety across the night operation.
Complete transport administration and operational reporting as required.
