Description:

New Business Development / Category Manager / Buyer

Digital | Marketplace | Seller Acquisition London based | Hybrid

Are you a Buyer, Category Manager or commercial product professional who loves spotting a gap, finding the right brands and turning opportunities into commercial wins?

Or perhaps you're already working in marketplace, eCommerce or new business and are ready for a bigger, more strategic role?

We're looking for a New Business Development Manager to help grow an exciting Marketplace proposition across a portfolio of well-known retail brands.

What's the role?

You'll own seller acquisition across around half of the Marketplace's category portfolio, identifying opportunities to add new brands, fill range gaps, expand categories and give customers more choice.

You'll use customer demand, search data, competitor activity and category insight to understand what the Marketplace needs next - and who can deliver it.

You'll then find, pitch to and negotiate with those brands and sellers, building a strong pipeline and bringing new partners on board.

You'll also lead and develop a team of New Business Leads, combining commercial expertise with genuine people leadership.

What you'll be doing

Identify category and range gaps and turn them into new business opportunities
Research the market and find exciting brands, suppliers and specialist sellers
Build relationships with brand owners, founders and senior commercial contacts
Pitch the Marketplace proposition and negotiate commercial terms
Work closely with Digital Trading to identify new categories, brands and product opportunities
Lead, coach and develop your team
Monitor new seller and product performance, including GMV and early trading
Identify bigger opportunities including exclusive ranges and brand partnerships
Bring market and competitor insight into the wider Marketplace leadership teamCould this suit a Buyer or Category Manager?

Absolutely.

You don't need to have spent your career in traditional sales. If you understand how to build a compelling range, identify gaps, spot commercial opportunities and build strong supplier relationships, your experience could translate brilliantly.

You might already be someone who:

Has found new suppliers or brands to fill category gaps
Negotiates commercially with a large supplier base
Uses customer and competitor insight to shape range strategy
Spots emerging brands and product opportunities
Works across multiple categories or retail propositions
Has experience leading, coaching or developing a teamWhat we're looking for

We're after someone commercially curious, confident and proactive, with strong negotiation skills and a genuine interest in eCommerce, marketplaces, retail and product.

You'll need to be comfortable opening doors and having commercial conversations, while also understanding the category detail behind an opportunity and knowing what will genuinely work for the customer and the business.

If you're a Buyer, Category Manager, Marketplace professional or commercial new business specialist looking for a role where you can genuinely influence growth and what customers can buy, we'd love to hear from you.
