Formed in 2013, Wave 9 is a highly regarded and growing company that specialises in delivering IT solutions into the UK Education sector. These services include Internet connectivity, Internet security, Local Area (LAN), Wireless network (WLAN) solutions and telephony services.

Now part of the Modern Networks group, who bring scale, capacity and further opportunity, we are now looking for an experienced and capable network and security engineer join our team and to primarily focus on the delivery and support of our network, Internet connectivity and security managed services to our school customers.

What you’ll be doing

* Support desk cover, working with customers via telephone, email, and the ticketing system to effect changes to firewall and web filtering solutions.

* Installation, integration and commissioning of network, firewall and filtering solutions on customer sites

* Prestaging, initial configuration of the network, firewall and filtering solutions.

* Assisting with presales and design of Local Area Network and Wireless solutions

* Logistical and technical support to assist the running of the project and operations team.

* Replacing faulty or upgrading equipment on customer sites

* Liaise with third-party carriers to troubleshoot connectivity issues using tools, ticketing systems, email, or telephone.

* Working with our Technical Operations Manager to develop the team

What we're looking for

* Experience in configuration, installation and remote support of enterprise-class firewalls such as Sophos XGS, Fortigate or similar vendors.

* Experience with the installation and configuration of LAN / WLAN network equipment - market-leading vendors such as Cisco, HP, Meraki, Juniper, etc., preferable.

* Experience in configuration and troubleshooting complex networking issues

* Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency.

* Experience in a customer-facing role working to defined levels of service delivery.

* Experience with delivering, supporting, and troubleshooting IT services in UK schools is desirable, but not a deal-breaker!

* Great customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers at all levels.

* Ability to accurately document customer issues and rectification actions.

* Valid UK driving license and able to travel throughout England
