Description:

Network Architect - South Wales - £70,000 with Bonus and excellent benefits

Joining Ogi is a unique opportunity to work within an innovative Welsh business and one of the fastest-growing companies in Wales.

For many years, we've been providing mainstream internet and IT services as Spectrum Internet and Net Support UK. We rebranded to Ogi to represent our dedication to Welsh communities and received a significant multi-million-pound investment to deliver a large-scale and ambitious rollout of full-fibre internet across South Wales.

We are searching for a talented, technical engineer to lead the architecture, strategic planning, and deployment of our network infrastructure as our new IP Network Architect. Just as Obi-Wan guided Luke, you will steer us in the right direction.

About you…

We’re looking for someone who looks at networks like Hans looks at Chewie. A passion and relentless attention to detail is required for this role, with a real hands-on, ‘in the field’ approach to day to day operations. Do or do not, there is no try.

The IP Network Architect reports to the Director of Engineering and Network Operations and will play a vital part in helping to build, maintain and operate our active network, from the access level in our towns, right up to the edge of our network. You will be highly experienced at leading network infrastructure and automation initiatives. We’d love to speak to those who are at one with the networking force.

The right candidate will have significant operational experience and a deep understanding of network technologies with strong expertise in Nokia (Alcatel-Lucent), Juniper routers, as well as core routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS… R2D2 or JE.DI is desirable but not essential.

It is essential that you have the following:
* Solid understanding of IP networks and TCP/IP technologies
* Deep knowledge of routing & switching protocols
* Ability to provide in-depth analysis of network behaviour
* Hands-on knowledge of Juniper or Cisco Routers & Switches

Ideal Competencies, Qualifications and or experience include:
* Previous experience of working in an exchange and switch room environment
* A broad knowledge of telecoms equipment
* The ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
* A positive can-do attitude with the willingness to learn new skills
* Excellent communication skills

*Ability to work and thrive under pressure

*Experienced at leading network infrastructure and automation initiatives

*Working knowledge of BNG, CGNAT, DDoS and Network Security, and experience in VoIP / SIP services

*Experience of working in a Carrier / ISP / MNO environment is strongly preferred but not essential for candidates from an Enterprise Networking environment, where they have deep skills.

Ultimately, the IP Network Architect will play a vital role in the roll-out of our Full fibre network, as well as always projecting our company culture and values. While we're not seeking someone who has mastered every technique in the Jedi archives, you should be passionate about getting the job done to high standards!

What you’ll be doing…

If you have been working in a role like this previously then you’ll know how to work at Hyperdrive pace and under pressure as well as the variety involved in a role like this. You’ll take on strategic leadership of the network design and implementation while being responsible for advanced problem-solving and network maintenance.

This is a role for people who get excited about tech, who’d take satisfaction in guiding and developing a team of Network Engineers, following Master Yoda’s mantra “Always pass on what you have learned.”

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

* Lead the strategic planning and deployment of network infrastructure with an emphasis on implementing automation and scripting tools

* Implement and refine the use of NetBox for comprehensive IP address management and as a foundational tool for network automation

* Develop, and maintain highly scalable, resilient, and efficient network infrastructures

* Monitor and ensure the highest levels of network performance and reliability

* Lead the resolution of complex network issues, setting standards for troubleshooting and maintenance

* Conduct and oversee sophisticated network performance analysis and reporting

* Act as a senior technical leader, guiding and mentoring a team of network engineers

* Author comprehensive documentation on network architectures, configurations, and best practices

* Facilitate knowledge transfer and training sessions for IT staff on emerging technologies and tools

* Evaluate new technologies and advocate for their implementation to enhance network functionality and efficiency

* From time tf time, out of hours support following escalation from on-call teams

* Implement and refine the development of our IP core, IP backhaul, CGNAT and BNG architecture, as well as our Layer2 and Layer3 access networks including multi-PON technologies

* Develop, and maintain highly scalable, resilient, secure and efficient network infrastructure

From time to time, you may need to repair a SS05 Hyperdrive which has been retrofitted into a YT-1300 light freighter called the Millenium Stadium Falcon. It’s been proving to be temperamental.

One thing you should know is that we recognize and reward your contributions as part of a team that prides itself on being inquisitive, intuitive, and supportive. We learn from our failures and celebrate our victories together, much like the Rebel Alliance!
