Job Purpose

To manage the sales of our Energy Services offering across UK & Ireland as part of the industrial sector sales team. To achieve maximum sales potential by maximising our key accounts, developing new business within existing and new customers. To achieve and exceed budgeted sales targets and maximise profitability. Job Context

Our Energy Services sector has grown significantly in recent years, and we now need a focussed sales manager role to manage all aspects of our sales activities in the sector. 

We have been highly successful in securing frameworks and projects for a number of UK DNO’s and IDNOs as well as ICP’s and also growing our private networks services significantly. Our core service offering includes design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, training and other services from LV-132kV.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the Energy Services operational team and wider product sales team to drive sales growth. This opportunity will enable the candidate to build on an already highly-successful area of our business and achieve our collective goals for the future.

Job Dimensions

1.    The role will be field/ home based with regular visits to Lucy Electric offices and customers within the UK & Ireland.  Travel to overseas locations will occasionally be required.

2.    The Employee’s home base must be located on the UK/Ireland mainland.

Key Accountabilities

These will include:

1.    To achieve and exceed budgeted sales targets and maximise profitability for the assigned territory.

2.    Create and follow dedicated and focused plans for existing, and emerging/new customers and sectors in line with the Company’s 5-year strategic plan.

3.    Accountable for generating new business and bringing in new customers.

4.    Although this role doesn’t currently have any direct reports, the candidate will work closely with the wider sales team to develop their skills and support them with opportunities. 

5.    Research, investigate and identify potential new areas for business development and growth in relation to new and existing products and services.

6.    Regular contact with existing customers and potential new customers building solid and enduring relationships.

7.    Ensure that customer records are maintained via the CRM system.

8.    Assist Head of Industrial Sales / Head of Energy Services in handling day to day account management, and liaise closely with the UK Sales Office, Service, Technical and Contracts Departments.

9.    Assisting with the preparation of budget pricing information, proposals/quotations/tenders in conjunction with colleagues and where appropriate and within time scales.

10.    Preparation of monthly sales forecasts and management reports.

11.    Work in conjunction with the Head of Industrial Sales and colleagues to ensure that ad-hoc reports and summaries are produced as and when necessary. Support / underpin meetings and decision-making process in relation to territory, customer focus, new or existing products and services.

12.    Assimilate views and information on specific markets and customer requirements plus keep abreast with latest product developments via market intelligence ensuring key updates are shared within the business.

13.    Participate in regular performance discussions, this will be on-going process throughout each year and not solely confined to an annual appraisal meeting.

14.    Implement special projects from time to time as requested by the Head of Industrial sales / Head of Energy Services.

15.    Develop professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Extensive and proven engineering sales/business development experience.
Experience of dealing with multiple large-scale bids simultaneously.
Extensive knowledge of working in sectors such as private networks, ICP’s and IDNO / DNO’s. Candidate must have in in depth experience of services such as maintenance, installation and commissioning of LV-132kV power systems.
Knowledge and understanding of contract law and terms and conditions.
Ability to negotiate and close orders leading to profitable business for Lucy Electric.
Good command of the English language.
Current UK driving licence.
Carry out site visits and technical assessments of customer requirements
Electrical or mechanical engineering HNC/HND or Relevant experience within the industry.
Desirable – Previous people management experience / Engineering Degree.
Desirable – Experience of working in the field on private networks.
