Multi-Skilled Security Systems Engineer
Location: Romford, Essex / East London
Salary: £22–£24 per hour + Enhanced Overtime + Call-Out Payments
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time, Field-Based
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Are you an experienced Security Systems Engineer looking for excellent earning potential, varied technical work and a manageable regional service area?
We're recruiting for an established and growing Fire & Security business looking for a skilled engineer to join its field service team covering Romford, Essex and East London.
This is a varied role involving the servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of electronic security and fire alarm systems across commercial and industrial customer sites. You'll enjoy plenty of independence, ongoing technical training and the support of an experienced engineering team.
Job Description
Service, maintain and repair CCTV, intruder alarms, access control, door entry and fire alarm systems.
Diagnose and resolve faults across a range of manufacturers and technologies.
Carry out planned maintenance, reactive repairs, minor installations and system upgrades.
Liaise with customers, providing technical advice and a professional service.
Complete engineering reports, service records and relevant safety documentation.
Participate in a 1-in-12 emergency call-out rota.
Person Specification
Previous experience as a Security Systems Engineer or Fire & Security Service Engineer.
Strong servicing, maintenance and fault-finding skills.
Experience across CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and/or fire alarms.
Knowledge of IP and conventional security systems.
Confident working independently and managing a regional workload.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Full UK driving licence.
Experience with automated gates and barriers would be advantageous but isn't essential.
Salary & Benefits
£22–£24 per hour basic (equivalent to £45,760–£49,920 annually).
Enhanced overtime: 1.5x evenings and 2x qualifying late/weekend working.
1-in-12 call-out rota: £250 standby allowance plus hours worked.
