Ballantine Recruitment is partnering with an established Food & Drink manufacturing business to recruit an electrically biased Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for its high-speed production site in Warrington.

This is a hands-on engineering position supporting a highly automated manufacturing environment incorporating bottling, canning and process equipment.

You’ll join an established engineering team responsible for keeping production running safely and efficiently, combining reactive fault finding with planned maintenance, reliability improvement and engineering projects.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for:

* Electrical and mechanical breakdown maintenance across automated production equipment

* PLC, controls and automation fault finding

* Planned preventative maintenance and scheduled engineering work

* Diagnosing recurring equipment issues and supporting root-cause analysis

* Improving equipment reliability and reducing unplanned downtime

* Supporting bottling, canning and process machinery

* Equipment installations, modifications and engineering improvement projects

* Working closely with production and operational teams

* Supporting specialist contractors and external engineers when required

* Recording maintenance activity and work orders through the site CMMS

* Contributing to continuous improvement, OEE, TPM, Lean and reliability initiatives

* Maintaining high engineering, safety and housekeeping standards

What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in engineers who are:

* Time-served or apprenticeship-trained within Engineering

* Electrically biased with strong mechanical capability

* Experienced within Food & Drink, FMCG, packaging or another high-speed manufacturing environment

* Confident fault finding on electrical control systems, PLCs and automated equipment

* Strong mechanically with the ability to diagnose and repair production machinery

* Comfortable working independently and making decisions during breakdown situations

* Experienced with PPM, reliability and continuous improvement

* Practical, hands-on and motivated by improving equipment performance

Formal qualifications such as HNC, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent would be advantageous but are not essential where strong practical experience can be demonstrated.

Shift & Package

Salary: £53,351 including shift allowance
Shift: 2 Days, 2 Nights, 4 Off
Working arrangement: Annualised hours

Annual leave is incorporated into planned periods within the annualised-hours shift pattern. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day are not rostered working days.

The wider benefits package includes:

* Company bonus scheme

* Healthcare provision

* Company sick pay

* Company pension

* Life assurance

* Cycle-to-work scheme

* Retailer discounts

* Employee recognition scheme

* Free onsite parking

* Ongoing training and development

Why Consider It?

This isn’t a purely reactive maintenance position.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across a broad range of automated manufacturing equipment while contributing to reliability, continuous improvement and engineering projects.

For an electrically biased engineer who enjoys fault finding, improving machinery and working in a fast-moving production environment, it offers a strong combination of salary, technical variety and structured time off.
