Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Looking for a static maintenance role with daytime hours, plenty of overtime and an experienced team?

HVAC Recruitment is recruiting two Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineers for an established facilities management provider at a large commercial and industrial site in Peterborough.

You’ll maintain the building services across approximately 300,000 sq. ft. of facilities, joining a team of two Mechanical Engineers and two Electrical Engineers. Some team members have been on site for over 15 years.

The role has a strong mechanical and plumbing focus, alongside electrical maintenance within your competence. We welcome mechanically qualified engineers with strong electrical knowledge, or electrically qualified engineers with practical mechanical and plumbing experience.

The Role

*

Carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and fault finding across mechanical and electrical building services.

*

Maintain pumps, valves, pipework, taps, toilets, sinks and associated plumbing systems.

*

Work on heating systems, including circulation pumps, expansion vessels and flow and return pipework.

*

Diagnose leaks, pressure issues, pump faults and component failures.

*

Clear toilet and drain blockages, which form a regular part of the site workload.

*

Complete minor installations, alterations, improvement works and support site projects.

*

Support water hygiene checks, statutory inspections and compliance activities.

*

Develop your knowledge of the site’s BMS, pump variable speed drives and compressor optimisers.

*

Complete maintenance records and communicate professionally with the client and wider team.

What You’ll Need

*

A relevant Level 3 engineering qualification, such as NVQ, City & Guilds or BTEC in mechanical, electrical or maintenance engineering, or a relevant Level 3 engineering maintenance apprenticeship.

*

18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification.

*

Practical experience across both mechanical and electrical systems.

*

Experience in planned and reactive maintenance, ideally within facilities management or commercial building services.

*

Confidence working on plumbing, pumps, heating systems and associated plant.

*

A flexible approach to everyday maintenance tasks, including toilet and drain unblocking.

*

Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Previous experience with BMS, variable speed drives or compressor controls would be beneficial. You’ll be given time to learn the site and its equipment.

What’s on Offer

*

£35,000 basic salary, with flexibility for the right experience.

*

Monday-to-Friday hours, 7:30am–4:00pm.

*

Permanent, static position with free on-site parking.

*

25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.

*

Plenty of overtime opportunities, paid at 1.5x and 2x.

*

All tools provided on site.

*

An established, supportive engineering team.

*

Training reviews and progression opportunities, with training allowances subject to approval.

You’ll join a 1-in-5 callout rota after at least six months on site, once you have developed sufficient site knowledge and are ready to take part.

The interview process includes an initial discussion followed by a site walkaround, so you can see the equipment, meet the team and understand the work involved.
