Description:

Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Rodley, with regular cover across company sites

Are you an experienced Electrical and Mechanical Engineer who enjoys hands-on fault finding, improving machinery reliability and keeping production running safely?

We’re looking for a skilled engineer to support timber and window-and-door manufacturing operations. This is a varied role combining electrical and mechanical maintenance, planned preventive maintenance, equipment installations and practical improvement projects.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you’ll work closely with production teams to minimise downtime, tackle recurring faults and improve the performance of plant, equipment and site services.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

* Responding to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, diagnosing faults and completing safe, effective repairs.

* Planning and carrying out preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, adjustments and component replacements.

* Maintaining motors, drives, sensors, control panels, basic PLC-controlled systems, bearings, belts, chains and gearboxes.

* Supporting the maintenance of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyors, pumps, compressed-air systems and extraction equipment.

* Identifying the root causes of recurring faults and implementing practical improvements to reliability, safety, quality and efficiency.

* Carrying out electrical installations, modifications, inspection and testing within your qualifications, competence and authorisation.

* Maintaining machinery supplies, lighting, electrical distribution and associated site services.

* Supporting machinery installation, commissioning, relocation, planned shutdowns and capital improvement projects.

* Keeping accurate maintenance records, monitoring critical spare parts and supporting cost-effective purchasing.

* Liaising with contractors and specialist service providers, supporting statutory inspections and following up remedial actions.

* Working with production teams to prioritise repairs and communicate equipment status and expected downtime.

* Providing practical guidance to operators and trainees on equipment care and safe first-line checks.

Safe working will underpin everything you do, including isolation and lock-off procedures, permit arrangements and checking guards, interlocks and emergency stops before equipment returns to service.

About You

We’re looking for a practical, organised engineer who can balance urgent breakdowns with planned maintenance and communicate clearly with colleagues across the business.

You will need:

* A recognised Level 3 electrical engineering or electrotechnical qualification, or an equivalent route supported by demonstrable competence.

* A current BS 7671 qualification.

* Strong hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial, production or similarly demanding environment.

* Confidence using electrical test equipment, reading electrical drawings and fault finding on motors, control circuits and industrial machinery.

* Practical mechanical fault-finding and repair skills across common drives and components.

* The ability to interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals.

* A safety-led approach, accurate record keeping and a commitment to continuous improvement.

* A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel between company sites.

* Flexibility to support planned shutdowns and agreed critical breakdown call-outs.

Desirable Experience

Experience in manufacturing, woodworking, timber processing or window-and-door fabrication would be beneficial, alongside any of the following:

* PLCs, HMIs, inverters/VSDs, servo systems or machine-control diagnostics.

* Pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, fabrication, machining or CNC equipment.

* CMMS or maintenance planning systems, root-cause analysis and small engineering projects.

* Multi-site engineering support.

* Inspection and testing, PAT testing, HNC/HND or higher engineering qualifications, or IOSH Managing Safely.

Working Arrangements

This is a site-based role, primarily at Rodley, with regular cover across company sites. Reasonable flexibility is required for planned shutdowns and urgent breakdowns
