We are recruiting for two Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineers to join a well-established industrial recycling and processing company based at Tilbury Docks, Essex.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to join a busy engineering team, maintaining and repairing a wide range of industrial production machinery.

The position would suit a multi-skilled engineer or someone with a strong mechanical or electrical background and a good working knowledge of the other discipline.

Successful candidates will initially work alongside the existing Day Shift Engineers for a minimum of six weeks to become familiar with the plant, equipment and production processes. The full shift allowance will be paid throughout this training period.

The Role

Working within a fast-paced production environment, your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on industrial machinery and equipment.

Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical breakdowns.

Changing bearings and carrying out mechanical repairs on production equipment.

Conveyor belt tracking, maintenance and repairs.

Maintaining, fault-finding and replacing three-phase motors.

Working on conveyors, vibrating screens and automated sorting machinery.

Identifying and resolving faults involving motors, sensors and associated electrical systems.

Supporting machinery modifications, upgrades and continuous improvement projects.

Assisting external contractors during planned maintenance shutdowns.

Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maintain efficient plant operation.

Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and to the required standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

We are looking for practical, hands-on Maintenance Engineers with previous experience working in a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.

You should have:

Previous electrical or mechanical maintenance experience within manufacturing, production or heavy industry.

Strong mechanical skills, including bearing replacement, conveyor maintenance and general machinery repairs.

Good electrical knowledge, including three-phase motors, sensors and electrical fault-finding.

Experience completing planned preventative maintenance schedules.

The ability to diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs under production pressures.

Experience working with industrial machinery and automated equipment.

The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.

A relevant engineering qualification, ideally NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent.

Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Candidates with a predominantly mechanical or electrical background will be considered, provided they have a good working understanding of the other discipline.

Previous experience within recycling, materials processing, manufacturing or other heavy industrial environments would be particularly advantageous.

£53,000 - £55,000 total annual salary, including shift allowance.

£43,000 - £45,000 basic salary.

£10,000 annual shift allowance.
