Job Purpose:

We are committed to the perfect partnership with Asda and our mission is to provide them with the cleanest and best maintained stores, exceeding their expectations - every day. Due to company growth, we are looking for an additional engineer to carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a number of site locations within a specified region.

To carry out planned and reactive maintenance and repairs to a range of electrical, mechanical and building assets in ASDA stores in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with the specified Company Health and Safety procedures.

*Although not an exhaustive list, this is likely to include bakery and catering equipment, mechanical and electrical systems and assets, lighting systems, building fabric, water services and other static and portable electrical equipment. General maintenance and first look is required for all and electrical and general issues.

Key Accountabilities :

To represent the company in a professional manner at all times and develop a good working relationship with City and ASDA colleagues.

To complete all necessary PPM’s and ensure all PPM remedial tasks are accurately logged and actioned, ensuring legal compliance

To read and comply with updated company briefing documents as required

To supervise the Maintenance Assistant (MA), provide regular coaching and support them to perform their role in line with company processes.

To respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk and to assess the requirements of the job and carry out repairs as and where required.

To prioritise maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and contract SLA’s

To order spare parts as required to carry out planned and re-active repairs

To identify non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and promptly escalate to Regional Engineering Supervisor (RES) of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacement.

Where plant and equipment are non-repairable, to make recommendations to the RES regarding suitable replacement.

To communicate with Asda Store Management teams and RES of any repair and maintenance issues that are likely to affect the smooth running of the store.

To manage the attendance of subcontractors with the RES and assist ASDA Management Teams in the management of subcontractors’ on site.

To carry out surveys and complete reports as required

To carry out alterations and installations within your technical competence and in accordance with current specifications.

To complete general repairs and maintenance to ASDA store sites as designated by the RES,

e.g. repairs to the building fabric and surfaces.

To assist other MSTs in other Stores/Regions when requested to do so by the RES

To recruit and select suitably qualified and experienced MA to ensure continuous service delivery in stores; following company processes and policies in recruitment.

To liaise with project teams on store alterations, modernisations, and other relevant works.

To ensure all tools and equipment necessary (as per company tool list) to complete maintenance and repairs are always available and serviceable.

To maintain accurate administration as well as City applications, recording of jobs live and effective utilisation of time.

To attend training courses as and where necessary and to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical developments, which may include overnight stays.

Ensure Asset database is accurate and current for each site

To comply with the company Health and Safety Policy at all times.

To work with company and ASDA colleagues to ensure quality standards are always maintained.

Ensure current compliance documentation required for relevant allocated tasks are completed to required quality standards.

Ensure that you and your team attend and complete all mandatory training, including induction programmes and eLearning modules within the timescales required.

To provide on the job coaching and support to the team to ensure they are able to perform to the required standards within their role.

To deliver technical coaching solutions to the standards required, ensuring participation of trainees through active encouragement and support of learning

Complete all induction and training administration, including probationary reviews to ensure that the team are fully competent, and aware of their performance.

To participate in an Out of Hours standby rota (min 1 week in 4) and to complete general repairs to plumbing systems and drainage during Out of Hours Standby

To be first response for equipment such as Fire and Security/ HVAC/electrical and general issues

To comply with any other reasonable request or instruction from the RES, or other City Management Team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

C&G 2382 (18th edition)

C&G 2360 Part 1 & 2

C&G 2330 – this is the current Qual that replaced 2360

C&G 2356 – NVQ Level 3

C&G Electrical Part A & B – Approved Electrician

C&G Electrical Part C – Technician

BTEC Diploma in Electrical Installation

BTEC Diploma in Electrical Maintenance

NB Both 2330 and 2356 is what you would expect from someone that has completed a full electrical apprenticeship recently

3 phase electrics and its applications

Ability to manage and support team members

Good communication skills (written and verbal)

Helpful/friendly manner

Customer focused

Self-motivated

Ability to maintain/repair a range of electrical and mechanical equipment, e.g. fans, pumps and compressors, to recognised standards

General plumbing and building experience

Ability to work with minimum supervision

Ability to work at heights

Current driving licence

Ability to complete the standard required for maintenance and repair of electrical/ electronic equipment and appliances

Willingness to work flexible hours
