Job Title: Lecturer in Automotive Technologies (2 Positions Available)

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time (37 hours per week)

Salary: £33,000 - £43,000 per year

Location: Based at a college in Preston

Note: We are recruiting for 2 positions. Ideally, for one of these roles, the successful candidate will have relevant experience working with Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs).

About the Role

We are seeking dedicated automotive professionals to join our team as Lecturers in Automotive Technologies.

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver an outstanding student learning experience through the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment from Level 1 to Level 3. You will design engaging practical and theoretical lessons that reflect current industry practice, helping learners develop their practical competencies and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning: Plan, deliver, and assess Automotive Technology programmes across various levels, incorporating practical workshop activities and e-learning techniques.

Curriculum Development: Design coherent schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with industry standards, awarding organisations, and educational best practices.

Student Support & Guidance: Act as a course/personal tutor, setting individual targets, monitoring progress, managing student behavior, and providing pastoral and academic support.

Industry Engagement: Develop links with local employers, integrate work-related activities into curriculum planning, and enhance student employability.

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

Level 3 Qualification in Motor Vehicle / Automotive Technology (e.g., IMI, City & Guilds) OR Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV).

Certificate of Education (PGCE, Cert Ed, CTLLS/DTLLS) or a willingness to work towards a teaching qualification within an agreed timescale.

Minimum Level 2 in English and Maths (GCSE Grade C/4 or Functional Skills Level 2).

Experience & Skills:

HGV Experience: Previous experience working with Heavy Goods Vehicles is highly desirable for one of the two available posts.
