Are you experienced in assessing or processing lending applications and ready to build a long-term career in financial services?

We’re recruiting for an Underwriter to join a growing specialist lending business. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your lending and underwriting knowledge, gain exposure to the second-charge mortgage market, and work towards a fully funded CeMAP qualification.

You’ll join a supportive, collaborative team where development is encouraged and progression is genuinely achievable.

What’s on offer for the Underwriter role?
£32,000–£33,500 basic salary
Monthly bonus, with realistic OTE of £38,000+
Hybrid working after probation — two days per week from home
Fully funded CeMAP qualification
25 days’ holiday, plus bank holidays and your birthday off

Monday–Friday working hours:
Three early shifts: 9:00am–5:00pm
Two late shifts: 11:00am–7:00pm
Fridays always finish at 5:00pmThe role:
As an Underwriter, you’ll assess and progress second-charge mortgage applications, ensuring each case is managed accurately, efficiently and in line with responsible-lending requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:

Reviewing and manually assessing second-charge mortgage applications against lending criteria
Checking customer documentation and requesting further information where needed
Reviewing income, expenditure and affordability information
Making sound underwriting decisions in line with policy and risk appetite
Maintaining accurate, up-to-date case records
Managing applications in line with agreed service levels and KPIs
Liaising with customers and internal stakeholders throughout the application process
Supporting positive customer outcomes through accurate and responsible lending decisions To be successful, you’ll will have the following experience:

At least 12 months’ experience assessing or processing loan, finance or lending applications
Experience reviewing income, expenditure and affordability information
Previous exposure to a lending, mortgage or broader financial-services environment
Strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills
A genuine interest in developing a career within mortgages, lending or underwritingApplicants from backgrounds including motor finance, secured lending, mortgages, loan processing, underwriting support, banking or case management are encouraged to apply.
